Do you ever wonder if what you create is good enough to show to the world? Are you ever afraid that you will put your creation out there and no one will care or it will not be seen the way you see it? Does that fear ever hold you back?
I have recently started quilting, well I piece the quilt top and I have a lady, Rose, who does the quilting, anyway I have made several this year. I entered my first "Lillian's Spring Garden" in our local quilt show this weekend. For the last 6 months I have wrestled with the question of whether to enter it or not. Finally, I decided to go for it.
As we were walking through the show I was looking at all the beautiful quilts and thinking that mine did not measure up to all the amazing works of art we saw. Finally, there was mine. It was surreal, I knew it so well, every stitch, every mistake, every flaw, but yet it had a beautiful, blue, 1st place ribbon on it. If I had let my fear of failure hold me back, I would have missed out on the initial excitement and joy I felt to see that ribbon.
There is a feeling of immense pride when you receive recognition for the hard work, time and care put into something you create. It was an unbelieveable! day! I am still high on the feeling!
